What we do
Grab bars that are anchored into the wall
A bar screwed into tile alone can pull out. We find the framing, or use an anchor made for the load, and test it before we leave.
Included in the visit
Fit a grab bar by the shower, tub and toilet at the height your parent uses
Test every bar with a firm pull before we pack up
Add a handheld shower on a slide bar
Lay a non-slip mat or strips in the tub or shower
Fit a raised toilet seat or a fold-up support arm

What changes the time
What makes a visit longer
Tile over plaster or old fiberglass takes longer, because we find a safe place to fix the bar.
A bar in a spot your parent chooses may not land on a stud. We say so and offer an anchor or a different spot.
A curbless shower, a walk-in tub or a wider door is a remodeling job. We refer it to a licensed contractor.
How it goes
From the call to the report
- 01
Step 1: Before
Nilda asks your parent to show how they step in and out, sitting or standing.
- 02
Step 2: The marks
We mark the bar heights with tape and check them with your parent.
- 03
Step 3: The fit
We drill, anchor and fit each bar, and test each with a firm pull.
- 04
Step 4: The report
You get photos and the bar heights, so a therapist can check them if you like.
Rules
What we leave to others
We are not clinicians. If your parent has a written home assessment from an occupational therapist, we follow it for bar positions and heights.
Plumbing work behind the wall, new water lines and drains go to a licensed plumber.
Questions
Questions about this work
How much weight will a bar hold?
It depends on the bar and what it is fixed to. We use bars rated for the use and tell you what each one is fixed to. We do not quote a load figure for your wall.
Can you fit a bar on a tub with a fiberglass surround?
Rarely. A bar needs framing behind it. If there is none, we suggest a freestanding rail that clamps on the tub, or refer the job to a contractor.
Do you supply the bars?
Yes, from the list on the quote, billed at cost. You can also supply your own.
Start with the shower
We call back by the end of the next business day.
