Who we are

A small firm built around a parent's house

Escalera Home Safety is four people who think the house should fit the person in it. Nilda started it because she kept seeing the same small hazards in the houses she visited, and the families who couldn't be there to fix them.

We are not a remodeler. We do not do big jobs, and we do not sell products. We come four times a year, fix small things, and tell the family what we saw.

The four of us

The people who come to the door

  • Nilda Escalera

    Owner and certified aging-in-place specialist

Leads every first visit, writes each report and answers the phone.

  • Casimir Pavlik

    Lead handyman

Railings, steps and anything that needs a saw.

  • Waldo Rosado

    Handyman

Grab bars, door hardware and bathroom fittings.

  • Sabina Ostrander

    Visit coordinator

Calls ahead, books each season and sends the report.

How we work

Three rules we keep

  • Your parent is in charge

We ask before we move or change anything, and we never do a job they didn't agree to.

  • We say what we are not

We are handymen. We are not clinicians, electricians, plumbers or roofers, and we say so.

  • The family gets a report

With your parent's okay, you hear what we saw and what we did, in plain words.
